Description

Cake-pops... shaped like Bomberman!
As well as bombs.

I made these adorable cake-pops for my 20th birthday. (Yeah, a 20-year-old making bomberman cake-pops?)
They came out better than I expected them to. Not perfect by any means, though. I guess I just lack confidence.

If you have any cake-pop making tips, I'd love to hear them.
... that one with the epic bumpy face I messed-up, so I gave him X's for eyes.

All those plain white pops with mini Reeces on them were supposed to all be bombs, but the black food coloring didn't behave very well on the candy coating. So, I only finished two bombs. I really like how the bombs that I did manage to finish came out, though. For some reason, the pops remained very moist for hours, I mean literally more than a day. They just never dried out and they were rather oily. I really don't know why, that has never happened to me before, but this is only the third time I've made cake-pops.
Since they all remained oddly moist, they were very hard to paint. The moisture made the food coloring and the powder color bead, so they look speckled. Both the colorings were made for fondant and such, but I was putting it onto candy coating, so I suppose that's what I get for not obeying the instructions. The pink balls and the bomb's fuses are made out of fondant. I wish I could have used gum-paste or modeling chocolate, but gum-paste is expensive and modeling chocolate seems to not exist anywhere on Earth. The fondant did not go very well, over time it got very gooey and sticky for whatever reason, and fondant doesn't taste very good, I personally feel.
Yeah, I used orange food color powder to make the faces, painted with a paintbrush the expressions on with black gel food coloring, as well as painted the bombs. I've seen on the internet that mixing gel coloring with alcohol or water can make the gel like a paint and make it easier to apply, but I found that very wrong and it just made everything worse. The gel by itself made better paint, it already seemed to have the properties of paint to begin with.

But, yeah, I love bomberman.
I made some faces round to be reminiscent of Bomberman Jetters, and some faces square as homage to the original.

... Watch-out, Bomberman! Your biggest threat is yourself!
Even if you have TWO! *echoes* two, two, two .... bomb-stars.
